Moroccan vegetable and fruit exports to Spain reach a record high in early 2025
Morocco’s exports of vegetables and fruits to the Spanish market have seen unprecedented growth during the first three months of 2025, both in volume and value, solidifying the Kingdom’s position as a key agricultural supplier to Europe.
Data published by the specialist site “Horto Info” revealed that Spain increased its imports of Moroccan vegetables and fruits by 22.45% in volume and 22.49% in value compared to the same period in 2024. The volume of Spanish imports of these products from January 1 to March 31 amounted to approximately 191.91 million kilograms, marking a record that has never been recorded in the first quarter of any year.
In terms of monetary value, Morocco’s exports to Spain reached 487.12 million euros, roughly equivalent to 5.26 billion Moroccan dirhams, based on an exchange rate of about 10.8 dirhams to the euro.
These figures reflect the strong performance of Moroccan agricultural products, high quality, and increasing competitiveness, which has allowed them to gain a prominent position in European markets, particularly in Spain.
Bell peppers topped the list of exported products by volume, with 35.5 million kilograms, followed by tomatoes at 32.31 million kilograms, avocados at 29.16 million, and blueberries at 16.5 million. The exports also included 11.95 million kilograms of raspberries, 9.4 million of cucumbers, 6.56 million of zucchinis, 5.3 million of potatoes, and 5.07 million of strawberries.
In terms of financial value, raspberries led with 101.46 million euros, followed by blueberries at 99.91 million, avocados at 72.76 million, tomatoes at 52.51 million, and bell peppers at 49.21 million euros. Strawberries generated revenue of 19.56 million euros, followed by cucumbers at 10.22 million, zucchinis at 5.38 million, and potatoes ranked tenth with a value of 2.62 million euros.
