Lee Jae-myung Wins Presidency in South Korea, Defeating Conservative Kim Moon-soo
Leftist candidate Lee Jae-myung has won the presidential election in South Korea, with his conservative rival Kim Moon-soo conceding defeat.
After counting approximately 88% of the votes, Lee secured 48.4% compared to Kim’s 42.8%, in an election with a voter turnout of 79.4%.
Voters opted for a political shift, as Lee represents the leftist opposition contrasting the former conservative president Yoon Suk-yeol, whose term was marred by a political crisis that lasted for months at the end of 2024.
