FIFA: Nearly 1.5 Million Tickets Sold So Far for the 2025 Club World Cup
Ticket sales for the 2025 Club World Cup have approached the 1.5 million mark, indicating a significant public turnout for the tournament’s first expanded edition featuring 32 teams, currently held in the United States.
FIFA announced this figure in a press release, noting that the strong kickoff occurred during the opening match between Egypt’s Al Ahly and the American side Inter Miami, which attracted around 60,000 fans to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Meanwhile, the European clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid drew more than 80,000 spectators at Rose Bowl in Los Angeles, marking one of the highest attendances in the history of both teams this season.
According to FIFA’s figures, total attendance for the first eight matches was about 340,000, with an average of 42,500 spectators per match, reflecting a promising start for the tournament in terms of audience turnout.
However, attendance was not uniform across all matches, with a marked decrease noted in some games, such as Chelsea’s match against Los Angeles FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, which saw attendance only reaching 22,000. Chelsea’s coach, Enzo Maresca, described the atmosphere as “strange,” given the near-empty stands in a venue that can accommodate tens of thousands.
To address this disparity, FIFA launched promotional offers on ticket prices for select matches to bolster attendance and ensure full stadiums, confirming that these offers will continue throughout the tournament.
Conversely, upcoming matches are leading the ticket demand, particularly the fixtures featuring Real Madrid against Mexican club Pachuca, Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, and Austria’s Salzburg. The anticipated meeting between Bayern Munich and Boca Juniors in Miami, alongside the duel between Flamengo and Chelsea in Philadelphia, is expected to attract over 50,000 fans each.
It is worth noting that this edition of the tournament, which runs until July 13, is the largest in history in terms of the number of teams, players, and represented countries. FIFA aims to establish a new global tradition that enhances the stature of clubs and provides their fans with a unique football experience worldwide.
