Wydad Casablanca’s coach, Mohamed Amin Bennashim, emphasized the team’s readiness to compete in the FIFA Club World Cup, asserting that the squad enters the tournament with high morale and strong cohesion within the camp. He stated that the goal is to present a performance deserving of the club’s and Morocco’s name.
Bennashim explained that his players are aware of the responsibility they bear, especially as they represent the African continent alongside Morocco. He added that the coaching staff is preparing the team from all aspects, both mentally and physically, to face a rival of Manchester City’s stature.
The coach noted that Wydad played a friendly match against Canadian side San Laurent at the same time as their official opener, aiming to acclimatize to the climatic conditions. He confirmed that the team did not encounter any issues in this regard and that preparations are progressing under ideal circumstances.
Wydad will face English rivals Manchester City next Wednesday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, starting at 5 PM Moroccan time, in one of the highlight matches of the first round.
