Syrian journalist Amouri Al-Sajer, in an exclusive statement to “Express TV,” commented on the terrorist bombing that targeted the Mar Elias Church in Damascus, pointing out that this attack occurred at a sensitive time aimed at undermining the Syrian fabric and attempting to disrupt civil peace.

Al-Sajer confirmed that the Syrian community is well aware of attempts to undermine its social cohesion, adding, “These matters are not hidden from the Syrians; they are conscious of these attempts, but there are known hands trying to destabilize security and civil peace.”

Despite this, he noted a media shortcoming from the government in addressing the incident, considering this shortcoming “intentional for reasons we know but keep to ourselves.” He emphasized that the security side handled the situation with high professionalism, explaining that “the security apparatus possesses extensive experience, is well-trained, and always prepared to face such events.”

Al-Sajer reiterated that testimonies from civil society affirm the efficiency of the security apparatus, especially in dealing with recent security incidents, such as those witnessed along the Syrian coast.

In this context, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday evening the arrest of all members of the terrorist cell that carried out the church bombing. The precise security operation was carried out based on intelligence information, leading to the raid of the cell’s hideouts in the Damascus countryside, resulting in the detention of all suspects and the seizure of weapons and explosives. This represents a significant blow to ISIS in the capital and its attempts to undermine security and stability.
