Saudi Al-Ola has decided to terminate the contract of Moroccan defender Ismail Maqdam after just one season with the team, despite his significant contribution to their promotion to the Yelo League.
This decision comes as part of a comprehensive restructuring of the defense line, following an internal technical assessment conducted by the club’s management in preparation for the upcoming season.
According to reliable sources, Al-Ola’s management has begun negotiations with the player to end the contract that was set to last until the summer of 2026, and an amicable separation has been agreed upon. Ismail Maqdam is recognized as one of the prominent names in the Moroccan defense, having previously shone with RS Berkane and Raja Casablanca, and he has won several local and continental titles.
Although his experience with Al-Ola was his first professional stint outside Morocco, its early conclusion came as a surprise, especially given the crucial role he played in achieving promotion before the club’s management opted for wide-ranging changes to meet the challenges of the Yelo League.
