A delegation of Moroccan businessmen is on an economic mission in South Korea to enhance bilateral partnership.
On Monday, the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises launched the mission in Seoul, with the goal of advancing economic relations between Morocco and South Korea, as well as exploring cooperation and investment opportunities between businesses from both countries.
The Moroccan delegation is led by the President of the Confederation, Chakib Alj, and includes representatives from companies operating in vital sectors such as automotive, plastics, chemicals, food processing, pharmaceuticals, mining, renewable energy, and advanced technology.
The delegation began its activities with a visit to the Incheon Free Economic Zone, where they were received by Morocco’s Ambassador to South Korea, Shafik Rashadi. The Commissioner, Wonsuk Yoon, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the economic model of the zone, which hosts over 300 foreign companies across various sectors, including manufacturing and research and development.
The itinerary included a crucial stop at the Integrated Smart City Operations Center, which has served as a model of coordination among various urban services—environmental monitoring, traffic management, and emergency responses—since its establishment in 2012, showcasing South Korea’s development in smart infrastructure.
Additionally, the Moroccan delegation had an interactive visit to the Innovation Museum of Samsung in Suwon, where members learned about the company’s innovative journey from its beginnings in electrical devices to its latest advanced technologies.
This economic mission is expected to continue until June 13, during which the Moroccan delegation will hold a series of meetings with major Korean companies, professional associations such as the Korean International Trade Association and the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with sectoral working sessions and bilateral meetings between business leaders, all aimed at expanding mutual cooperation between Morocco and South Korea.
