Widespread Mobile Network Outage in Spain Provokes User Dissatisfaction

Spain experienced a significant disruption in major mobile network services on Tuesday morning, with Movistar, Orange, Vodafone, Digimobil, and O2 halting operations from 5 AM, just weeks after a complete blackout of the country’s electrical network. Although emergency lines were partially restored in the Aragón region near the French border, issues persist in other areas.

The British newspaper "Daily Mail" reported that the outage impacted communication and internet services, while Spanish outlet "La Razon" noted that the affected companies are contractually linked to Telefónica, which had recently begun a large-scale upgrade of its infrastructure.

The company confirmed that the upgrade had caused a temporary malfunction affecting both landline and mobile phones.

A spokesperson for Telefónica stated that technical teams are working urgently to restore services to normal as quickly as possible. However, public anger has risen due to recurring outages, with many users asserting that the system fails to meet necessary technological advancements, increasing pressure on the company to improve network reliability and avoid similar crises in the future.
