The Qatari Mediation: How Doha Deceives the World While Profiting from Palestinian Blood?

- in International

In the midst of the humanitarian tragedy unfolding in Gaza due to daily Israeli bombings, a Qatari “mediation” claims to be working to halt the war. However, the reality reveals that Doha is using Palestinian suffering as a bargaining chip to enhance its influence and relations with Washington. While families are being annihilated under rubble and a generation of children is having their dreams killed, the issue of Gaza in Doha has been reduced to merely a pawn in a larger game of interests, where concessions are traded, positions are bought, and Palestinian blood has become a commodity in the marketplace of political bargaining.

The recent release of the American prisoner was not part of any ceasefire agreement or an effort to improve the conditions of Palestinian detainees, but rather a parallel process aimed at strengthening ties with Washington. Sources close to the negotiations confirm that Doha had planned to host Trump at Prince Tamim’s palace had he not canceled the visit citing “health reasons,” revealing that the operation was premeditated to support Trump’s electoral campaign rather than representing genuine efforts to rescue Gaza. The pressing question here is: how does Qatar justify negotiating on the lives of Gazans while offering Washington a selective release that serves its domestic policy?

In the same week that “progress” in the negotiations was announced, Qatar signed a $10 billion deal to finance the Al Udeid Air Base, agreeing to double its investments in the U.S. market. The shocking irony is that this money, which could have been directed towards urgent aid for rebuilding destroyed hospitals or feeding starving families in Gaza, has instead bolstered the U.S. military presence in the region. Where are the billions being spent to genuinely support Gaza, rather than just on virtue signaling in the media?

Leaked documents from the Doha negotiations reveal that Hamas leaders faced Qatari pressures to accept terms that do not even guarantee a temporary halt to the killings, while leaving the door open for political blackmail. Statements from Western officials praised Qatar’s “flexibility” in managing the issue, while no real pressure was mentioned to stop the war. Have Hamas leaders become hostages in luxurious Doha hotels, where their concessions are sold under the banner of “political realism”? Or has Palestinian blood merely become a tool for negotiating further influence and money?

In a paradox worth noting, Al Jazeera, Qatar’s media arm, points fingers at other Arab countries like Morocco for “normalization” with Israel, while conveniently overlooking that Qatar itself hosts the largest U.S. military base in the region and funds the manufacture and transport of U.S. weapons from Qatar to Israel. How can some attack the Port of Tangier in Morocco under the guise of “collusion,” while Qatari-American military deals are passed off as “strategic investments”? Isn’t this a clear case of double standards?

The bitter truth is that Palestinian blood is nothing more than a figure in the equation of Qatari interests. The mediation that Doha claims to lead has produced only more casualties. It is time for the world to understand that Qatar is not saving Gaza; rather, it is preserving its interests above the corpses of its children. Is there a voice loud enough to rise above the cries of the victims to tell the truth? Or will silence remain the only language permitted in this marketplace of bargains?
