The Professional Football League has warned clubs in the first division of the “Inwi” Professional Championship against promoting unlicensed electronic services. This initiative aims to enforce respect for the legal framework governing such activities within the country.
In its correspondence, the league emphasized the necessity of refraining from contracts with companies promoting websites or applications belonging to foreign entities that offer services not approved by the Moroccan authorities. It considers such contracts to fall under prohibited activities conducted outside the legal framework.
The league’s decision was based on a circular issued by the Ministry of the Interior, which was received by both the league and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. This circular confirmed that these services remain illegal and violate the applicable legislation in the country, necessitating intervention to curb their spread in stadiums and the sports sector in general.
This move is part of the authorities’ efforts to regulate the sports advertising space and protect it from illegal activities, especially in light of the increasing attempts to promote foreign electronic services lacking official licensing.
