Elements of the judicial police in Larache foiled an attempt to smuggle two tons of cannabis resin on Wednesday evening, in an operation conducted in coordination with their counterparts in Tetouan, supported by precise information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance.
The operation, which took place near the coastal strip of the city, resulted in the seizure of 51 bundles of drugs prepared for smuggling via maritime routes, along with a rubber boat, a marine engine, and two vehicles with false license plates.
According to initial data, the security services arrested eight individuals aged between 39 and 59, suspected of being linked to a criminal network engaged in international drug and psychotropic substance trafficking.
The detainees have been subjected to custody measures pending the investigation led by the competent public prosecutor’s office, aimed at uncovering other individuals involved in this network and its potential extensions at the national and international levels.
