The government is studying the possibility of launching a second phase of the program aimed at reducing spatial and social disparities in rural areas.

During a session in the House of Representatives on Monday, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water, and Forests, Ahmed Bouaari, confirmed that the government is currently evaluating this initiative. He emphasized that the decision to consider a second phase stems from the significant success of the first phase and its positive impact on rural communities, showcasing its unique social and economic dimensions.

Bouaari described the program as “the largest rural development initiative our country has seen,” with a budget of 48 billion dirhams. It targets 1,243 regional communities and 140 rural centers, benefiting over 14 million people.

He highlighted that the key achievements of this program include the construction of more than 22,000 kilometers of rural roads, expanding drinking water supply networks over 1,091 kilometers, and completing 30,111 connectivity projects and 680 drinking water supply systems.

Additionally, Bouaari mentioned the electrification of 1,135 villages, extending the electrical network by 1,070 kilometers, as well as executing 4,142 projects related to the construction, reconstruction, and maintenance of educational institutions, alongside 943 projects for building or reconstructing health centers and clinics.
