The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) is betting on a field experience to ensure the successful organization of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and the World Cup 2030.

Hassan Bouzidi, head of the Sports Security Department at the DGSN, confirmed that Morocco prioritizes securing the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and the World Cup 2030 as part of its strategic objectives. He explained during an open day seminar at the DGSN in El Jadida that Morocco relies on a solid security plan and years of experience in organizing major sporting events to guarantee the success of these two events.

Bouzidi stated that organizing these tournaments requires comprehensive coordination among various entities, including the DGSN, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, and local authorities. He noted that the matches of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 will take place in six Moroccan cities, including Rabat, Casablanca, Fes, Tangier, Marrakech, and Agadir, totaling 59 matches, which imposes significant security challenges that require high readiness.

He emphasized that Morocco has gained valuable experience by hosting major championships such as the FIFA Club World Cup and the African Futsal Championship, making it a regional model emulated by several African nations. He mentioned that international experience necessitates anticipating security threats, recalling France’s encounter with over a thousand security threats during its preparations for the Olympic Games.

Bouzidi further explained that Morocco continues to upgrade stadium infrastructure, notably the Grand Stadium in Ben Slimane, which will be the largest in Africa with a capacity exceeding 100,000 spectators. He affirmed that security measures are as crucial as sports and developmental aspects, highlighting that successful organization reflects the ambitious royal vision and enhances the international community’s confidence in Morocco’s ability to host world-class tournaments professionally.
