The curtain closed today on the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, with the final match taking place at the "Defensive Air" stadium in Cairo, Egypt. It featured the Moroccan national team against South Africa, concluding with a 0-1 victory for "Bafana Bafana," crowning South Africa as the continental champions after a fiercely competitive match.
The Moroccan youth team showcased a remarkable performance throughout this edition of the tournament, finishing the group stage with wins over Kenya and Tunisia, and only managing a goalless draw against Nigeria.
The "U20 squad" continued their impressive run in the knockout stages, eliminating Sierra Leone in the quarter-finals and Egypt in the semi-finals, both by a score of 1-0.
Alongside the final, the encounter for third place between Egypt and Nigeria also took place today, ending in a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Nigeria secured the bronze medal through a penalty shootout.
The continental tournament also determined the four teams that will represent the African continent at the upcoming U-20 World Cup, set to be held this year in Chile: Morocco, South Africa, Nigeria, and Egypt.
