NASA announced on Thursday that astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers spent approximately seven hours outside the International Space Station to conduct repairs and maintenance, marking the fifth all-female spacewalk in history.

During the spacewalk, the American astronauts installed a mounting bracket for solar arrays and relocated the station’s communication antenna.

This was the 275th spacewalk in the history of the International Space Station and the fifth to be conducted entirely by women. It was McClain’s third spacewalk and Ayers’ first.
