Rabat is hosting an international meeting to support the two-state solution in the Middle East
The capital city of Rabat will host the fifth meeting of the Global Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution tomorrow, Tuesday. This event will bring together prominent political figures and representatives from international organizations as part of ongoing international efforts to revive the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis.
The Kingdom of Morocco is organizing this meeting in partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, under the theme “Maintaining the Dynamics of the Peace Process: Lessons Learned, Successes, and Prospects.” The gathering is part of a diplomatic path aimed at re-energizing the two-state solution by presenting practical initiatives and actionable recommendations.
This meeting provides an opportunity to discuss the impact of political initiatives in the Middle East and to assess efforts to build strong Palestinian institutions. It will also highlight the economic dimension as a fundamental element for achieving stability and peace in the region. The discussions are expected to result in political recommendations aimed at strengthening diplomatic efforts and creating the field and political conditions necessary for the implementation of the two-state solution.
The meeting will adopt a practical approach by launching a platform dedicated to projects and initiatives that support the peace process, enhancing coordination among various international parties and opening avenues for new alliances that serve the aspirations of both Palestinians and Israelis to coexist within the framework of two states.
The outcomes from Rabat will be particularly significant, as they will serve as a foundation for the upcoming international conference to be held at the United Nations headquarters in New York next June, giving this meeting a preparatory and central role in the UN diplomatic agenda.
The Global Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution was established in September 2024 during the high-level week of the United Nations General Assembly, serving as a platform that brings together political and diplomatic actors to revive peace negotiations. The platform has previously held similar meetings in Riyadh, Brussels, Oslo, and Cairo, reflecting the growing international interest in breaking the political stalemate regarding the Palestinian issue.
Choosing Rabat as the fifth stop in this process underscores the increasing role played by the Kingdom in mediation efforts and promoting regional stability through diplomacy centered on balance and practical engagement in political solution paths.
