A partnership agreement to promote youth and women outside Morocco in Judo
On Thursday, May 22, 2025, a signing ceremony for a partnership agreement took place at the headquarters of the Moroccan Royal Judo Federation, attended by several sports personalities, coaches, and referees. This agreement was signed between the federation and the International Academy of Franco-Moroccan Judo. The strategy behind this agreement aims to enhance the practice of Judo and foster sports, educational, and solidarity values. The signing was overseen by Mr. Mohammed El Ghazilly, president of the Academy, who led a significant delegation representing the Academy, alongside Mr. Chafik El Kettani, president of the Moroccan Royal Judo Federation. Both parties expressed their strong desire to promote Judo and the values and ideals it embodies, particularly those of education, citizenship, culture, and coexistence, while also placing significant importance on integrating Moroccan youth in migration, supporting women’s presence and elevating their issues, and assisting people with disabilities. This agreement also targets strengthening sports and cultural ties between Morocco and Europe, as well as discovering and nurturing young talent within the Moroccan expatriate community.
Among the clauses of the agreement is the launch of several initiatives aimed at supporting women’s sports, including organizing training courses and competitions specifically for girls and women, distributing sports equipment to clubs with limited resources, and implementing guidance programs led by prominent Judo champions. Additionally, training programs will be developed to qualify female coaches and referees who can contribute to enhancing women’s participation in this sport. The Royal Federation expressed its commitment to sustainably support these projects by making its facilities available for organizing joint events and activities. Young Judo practitioners from the Moroccan community abroad will benefit from special personal guidance, alongside the establishment of a monitoring and evaluation mechanism to track the progress of initiatives and their alignment with long-term goals.
In parallel with this agreement, the federation organized several activities, including visits to a number of Judo clubs in Rabat and Casablanca, where academy members witnessed significant progress in the practice of this noble sport. The federation also engaged delegation members in friendly exhibition matches with Moroccan champions, culminating in the distribution of medals and certificates of participation, as well as a commemorative gift from the federation president.
