Morocco and Kenya Strengthen Judicial Cooperation to Combat Organized and Cross-Border Crime
Hicham Blawi, the Attorney General of the Court of Cassation and Head of the Public Prosecution, held discussions this morning with a delegation from the Public Prosecution of the Republic of Kenya at the headquarters of the Public Prosecution in Rabat. This meeting is part of an official visit by Kenyan Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Musalia Mudavadi to the Kingdom of Morocco.
Both parties explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two public prosecutions, focusing on judicial and technical aspects related to combating organized and cross-border crime. They emphasized the importance of exchanging experiences and best practices in areas related to the work of the public prosecution and coordinating efforts to address common challenges.
The two sides also discussed mechanisms for implementing the memorandum of understanding signed between the Moroccan Public Prosecution and the Kenyan Public Prosecution on February 21, 2023, which aims to establish an effective partnership in the field of justice. During the meeting, they reviewed developments in the justice system in Morocco, particularly concerning the independence of the judiciary and the public prosecution.
The Moroccan side provided information regarding ongoing reform initiatives overseen by the Public Prosecution to enhance judicial efficiency and improve institutional performance. Meanwhile, the Kenyan delegation expressed its interest in the Moroccan experience and its commitment to deepening judicial cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.
