Recent data published by the Indonesian statistical portal "Databoks Indonesia" revealed a significant decline in the country’s imports of clothing and accessories originating from Morocco over the past decade, hitting a low of $28.88 million, compared to a peak of over $140 million.
The same data indicated that Morocco exported more than $28 million worth of clothing and accessories to Indonesia in 2023, marking a sharp decrease of over 74% compared to the previous year when the value of Indonesian imports exceeded $114 million.
Regarding trade exchanges between the two countries, the source noted that Indonesia imports more than 30 main products annually from Morocco, with accessories and non-woven clothing leading the list of imports in 2023 at a value of over $15 million, compared to approximately $16.46 million in the prior year.
Following this, machinery, equipment, and electrical parts ranked second with an import value of $4 million in 2023, showing a significant increase compared to the previous year’s $1.6 million.
In a related context, Indonesia’s imports of knitted clothing and accessories from Morocco amounted to $3.97 million, down from the previous period’s $4.27 million. The data indicates that Morocco is among the largest exporters of this type of products to Indonesia, alongside China, Vietnam, Germany, Italy, and Turkey.
Data from the aforementioned statistical portal confirmed that Indonesia imported $3.26 million worth of Moroccan aluminum in 2023, as Morocco is one of the largest suppliers of this material to Jakarta, along with China, the United States, and Canada.
