Moroccan Cities Continue to Attract French Tourists During Summer 2025

A recent survey conducted by “Opinion Way” for the travel comparison site “Liligo” highlights a rising interest among French tourists in Moroccan cities for their summer vacations in 2025.

Marrakech maintains its position among the top ten destinations based on search volume, ranking ninth. The allure of the Red City continues to captivate those seeking a travel experience that combines culture, hospitality, and a sunny climate.

Other Moroccan cities are also witnessing a notable increase in popularity, with searches for Essaouira rising by 147%, while Fes experienced a 64% growth compared to the same period last year, according to the same data.

The survey, conducted between April 23 and 24, 2025, indicates that France remains at the top of preferred destinations for travelers, with data showing that 14% of summer vacation searches are for locations within France.

Sixty-seven percent of respondents expressed their intention to spend their holidays within France, reflecting an increase of six points compared to last summer. In contrast, interest in traveling abroad has declined, with only 45% planning to vacation outside the country, a decrease of five percent from summer 2024.

This shift in travel preferences indicates a drop in enthusiasm for European destinations, as only 37% of respondents expressed a desire to travel within Europe, representing a seven-point decline compared to last year.

These findings reflect a growing trend towards culturally and climactically distinctive destinations, further solidifying Morocco’s status as a favored choice among French tourists seeking an experience that combines geographical closeness with cultural diversity.
