Royal Army Women’s Team Wins the Throne Cup Title

The Royal Army team has claimed the title of the Women’s Throne Cup for the 2023-2024 season after defeating Wydad Athletic Club with a scoreline of three goals to one in the match held today, Saturday, at Sidi Youssef Ben Ali Stadium in Marrakech.

The military team opened the scoring through player Aziza Rabeh (20th minute), before Salma Boukrich equalized for the red team (23rd minute, penalty). Sihem Boukhami then restored the lead for the Royal Army (25th minute) and added a third goal through Safaa Banouk (56th minute).

This victory marks the Royal Army’s 12th title since their first win in the 2012-2013 season.

With this latest triumph, the Royal Army adds the Throne Cup to their tally, following their national league championship in women’s football.

The Royal Army reached the final after defeating Ittihad Tanger 3-0 in the semifinals, while Wydad Athletic Club advanced by overcoming Laayoune Women’s Football Club with a score of 2-1.

Last year’s Women’s Throne Cup title for the 2022-2023 season was also secured by the Royal Army against Laayoune Municipal Women’s Club.
