Early Start for Professional Championship Next Season Due to High International Commitments

Abdel-Salam Belkchour, President of the National Professional Football League, announced that the Moroccan professional championship will kick off earlier in the upcoming sports season of 2025-2026, anticipated to start at the beginning of August.

Belkchour confirmed in media statements that this decision is a result of the numerous football commitments awaiting Moroccan football on both the continental and international levels. Among the most notable are the African Nations Championship, the Arab Cup, and the African Cup of Nations, with great hopes placed by Moroccans on securing the title.

The football official explained that the league aims to finish the national championship competitions before May 2026, in order to align with Morocco’s preparations for participating in the World Cup scheduled for the summer of the same year in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, coordinating with the international agenda to ensure the readiness of the clubs and the national team.
