Diplomats Praise Morocco’s Security Model During Visit to National Security Open Days
A number of ambassadors and representatives from international organizations expressed their admiration for Morocco’s experience in establishing internal security during their visit to the sixth edition of the Open Days organized by the General Directorate of National Security in the city of El Jadida. They highlighted the importance of Morocco’s proactive approach and the notable development in its security apparatus, as well as the high professionalism and innovation that characterizes the work of these agencies.
Abdelatif Hammouchi, the Director General of National Security and the National Territory Surveillance Directorate, welcomed a delegation of 24 diplomats representing various continents, including ambassadors from Japan, China, India, Canada, Chile, Australia, Denmark, Mauritania, Mali, Ghana, Kenya, and Rwanda, in addition to heads of security missions from the United States and the United Kingdom. This reflects the growing international interest in Morocco’s security model.
This visit illustrated the increasing engagement from foreign partners in benefiting from Morocco’s experience in security governance, which is based on serving citizens and respecting universal values. The presence of representatives from UN bodies alongside diplomats underscores the multilateral aspect of Morocco’s security partnerships.
During the visit, the ambassadors held meetings with senior officials from the General Directorate of National Security, where they discussed prospects for bilateral and regional cooperation in the security domain, as well as the exchange of expertise and training, and addressing challenges related to transnational threats within the framework of South-South cooperation.
The visit included field demonstrations by the special forces of the National Territory Surveillance Directorate, where the diplomats expressed their admiration for the advanced intervention techniques in combating terrorism. Smart drone technology received particular attention, especially in light of preparations for the organization of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and the 2030 World Cup.
The diplomatic delegation also reviewed the latest developments in forensic police technology and visited the museum dedicated to the history of national security, which reflects the institutional and technological transformations the agency has undergone since its establishment 69 years ago.
The visit concluded with a presentation of the smart patrol vehicle model “Aman,” a locally developed vehicle equipped with advanced technologies for facial recognition and license plate reading, as well as data analysis via artificial intelligence, reflecting Morocco’s commitment to security innovation and enhancing technological independence.
The Rwandan ambassador expressed her country’s desire to develop practical partnerships in security training and expertise exchange, while the Chinese ambassador praised the significant advancements of Moroccan security facilities.
Meanwhile, the Congolese ambassador described Morocco as a strategic partner in regional security, commending the Kingdom’s role in enhancing security capabilities at a continental level. The Chilean ambassador lauded Morocco’s efforts in combating crime and the technical level achieved by its security forces.
This edition was held under the slogan “Proud to Serve an Ancient Nation and a Glorious Throne,” coinciding with Morocco’s celebration of the 69th anniversary of the establishment of the General Directorate of National Security on May 16.
