The quantities of products from coastal and traditional fishing unloaded at the Port of Nador have decreased by 13% as of the end of April 2025, reaching 1,245 tons compared to 1,426 tons during the same period last year, according to the National Fisheries Office.

The office’s latest report on coastal and traditional fishing statistics in Morocco indicated that the market value of these products also fell by 4% to 62.9 million dirhams, compared to the same period in 2024 (65.3 million dirhams).

The same source pointed out that the quantities of pelagic fish unloaded at this port fell by 52% in the first four months of this year, totaling 106 tons, with a value of 1.1 million dirhams, compared to 2.5 million dirhams for 218 tons during the same period last year.

In this context, the quantities caught of white fish also saw a decline in the last four months by 15%, amounting to 280 tons, with a value exceeding 8.5 million dirhams (down 15%), compared to 10.05 million dirhams for 329 tons in the same period of 2024.

Regarding cephalopods, the quantities unloaded increased by 6% to 675 tons, with revenues valued at 40.4 million dirhams (down 2%), mirroring the rise in the quantities unloaded of crustaceans, which increased by 1% to 185 tons, generating revenues of more than 12.7 million dirhams (up 13%).

On a national level, the marketed products from coastal and traditional fishing reached 206,666 tons by the end of April 2025, representing a decrease of 23% compared to the same period last year, while in terms of value, there was an increase of 2% to over 3.65 billion dirhams.
