Cleaners Participate in May 1st March in Rabat Demanding Inclusion and Social Protection
Cleaners from educational institutions participated on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in a May Day march in front of the Moroccan Labor Union headquarters in Rabat, demanding justice and their right to social protection.
The workers raised slogans condemning their marginalization, despite working in public educational spaces, and called for access to health coverage, pensions, and social benefits, similar to other workers in the sector.
The protesters expressed their dissatisfaction with the ongoing contracts with outsourcing companies, which deny them professional stability and expose them to exploitation and low wages, with no effective intervention from the authorities to safeguard their rights.
They also called for their direct integration through contracts that ensure dignity and rights, affirming their essential role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of educational institutions.
Participants in the march demanded an urgent dialogue to rectify the situation of this group working under difficult conditions, asserting that ignoring their demands entrenches discrimination and exacerbates vulnerability within public institutions.
