Ongoing Clashes Between Cambodian and Thai Soldiers
The Thai and Cambodian armies reported a brief exchange of gunfire today, Wednesday, in a disputed border area.
According to a statement from Thailand, "Cambodian soldiers entered a disputed area, and Thai soldiers approached the region to negotiate with them. Due to a misunderstanding, the Cambodian side opened fire, prompting the Thai soldiers to respond."
On the other hand, Cambodian army spokesperson, Mao Vala, stated that "the Cambodian forces were conducting a routine patrol along the border when the Thai side fired."
