Casablanca Concludes the Ninth Edition of “Smart City” Reinforcing Its Leadership in Urban Innovation
Casablanca wrapped up the ninth edition of the “Smart City” conference on Thursday, May 22, 2025. The event was organized by “Casablanca Events and Animation” under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. This year’s edition carried the theme “Smart Cities for the Next Generation: Innovation for a Sustainable and Inclusive City,” focusing on three strategic axes: “Sportech,” “Smart Mobility,” and “CivicTech.”
On the closing day of the conference, a series of distinguished presentations and discussions took place featuring both international and local experts. François Herroult, Director of International Relations for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, delivered a comprehensive presentation on strategies for transitioning to a smart and sustainable city. Herroult emphasized the importance of using technology to improve citizens’ quality of life and enhance resource management efficiency, highlighting projects based on big data and the Internet of Things to improve public transport and reduce emissions.
Meanwhile, Paul Street Grover, founder and managing director of “KI Partnerships” and a business consultant for Liverpool City Council, showcased Liverpool as a pioneering model for integrating innovation into urban infrastructure. He highlighted the city’s experiences in leveraging digital solutions to enhance interaction between local authorities and citizens, supporting sustainable economic development.
Academically, the University Institute of Sports Science participated with presentations addressing the relationship between technology and sports, particularly in enhancing athletic performance through smart tools, thereby promoting health and well-being within urban communities.
“Odin Solutions” was among the participants who presented innovative solutions related to data analysis and project management, emphasizing technology’s role in achieving smart city goals.
The “Casablanca Smart City” conference serves as a vital platform to promote dialogue and exchange experiences among various actors in the field of innovation, effectively contributing to the sustainable development efforts of Moroccan and global cities.
Through this edition, Casablanca once again confirms its position as a leader in urban innovation, committed to developing smart and sustainable solutions that meet the needs of its citizens and address future challenges.
