Bourita Welcomes the European Union’s Special Representative for the Sahel
On Friday in Rabat, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, received João Cravinho, the European Union’s Special Representative for the Sahel.
In a statement to the press following their talks, Cravinho emphasized that the European Union maintains "a fruitful relationship with Morocco that is very strong, multifaceted, and has various dimensions," highlighting that cooperation with the Kingdom holds "paramount importance."
He noted that Morocco’s neighborhood relations with "Sahel countries" are a very important source of knowledge, understanding, and also for establishing common pathways that serve the interests of the people in the Sahel.
The diplomat pointed out that the Sahel region is "fragile from both security and socio-economic perspectives, which are interrelated issues and pose a significant challenge," adding that the European Union and Morocco play an important role in the area.
João Cravinho stated that the purpose of his visit to Morocco is to explore ways to deepen the relationship between the European Union and Morocco in relation to the Sahel region, in order to achieve common goals concerning peace and security for the benefit of the people in this region.
