Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo stated that three of his country’s soldiers were injured during training in Scotland.
The Belgian Ministry of Defence informed the BBC that the condition of two of the soldiers is stable, and one is expected to undergo surgery in Scotland before returning to Belgium, according to the Press Association.
The ministry clarified that the third soldier was hospitalized due to minor injuries but has since been discharged.
In a post on X, the Belgian Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the injured soldiers and their families, saying: “I received the sad news of the injury of three soldiers from the 3rd Paratroopers Battalion during training in Scotland. I wish the injured a swift recovery. My thoughts are with their loved ones.”
The Belgian Ministry of Defence added that approximately 10 other soldiers sustained hearing damage during the incident, while a military spokesperson told the BBC that “the incident occurred during a planned training exercise. An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances, and the families of the injured have been informed.”
