Akhnouch: Allocating 26.5 billion dirhams for direct social support funding in 2025

The government has allocated a significant budget for the direct social support program, amounting to 25 billion dirhams for 2024 and 26.5 billion dirhams for the current year, with expectations to reach 29 billion dirhams by 2026. This places Morocco second in Africa regarding the allocation of 2% of its GDP to this program.

During the monthly accountability session at the House of Councillors, Prime Minister Aziz Akhnouch confirmed that this program, which has been rolled out following the royal directives, aims to address social deficits for low-income households, targeting approximately 4 million families—around 60% of families not covered by family compensation systems.

The program provides direct monthly support to eligible families, starting from 500 dirhams and potentially reaching 1,200 dirhams depending on the family composition and circumstances, in a move aimed at improving living conditions and enhancing social security.

Since its launch in December 2023, the digital platform www.asd.ma has yielded notable results, benefiting about 4 million families, which include 12 million beneficiaries, among whom 3.2 million families are simultaneously benefiting from compulsory health insurance, and more than 2.4 million families have children compared to 1.5 million families without children.

The number of children receiving direct support has exceeded 5.5 million, and over a million individuals aged 60 and above have received monthly stipends that ensure a dignified income, enhancing purchasing power and mitigating risks associated with aging.

The Prime Minister praised the efforts made to complete the social protection initiative, which remains a top priority for both the executive and legislative authorities, emphasizing that the national mobilization around this project reflects the collective will to build a cohesive society where citizens enjoy all their fundamental rights.
