A Moroccan health mission prepares to accompany pilgrims and provide comprehensive care during the 2025 Hajj season.
On Monday, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amin Al-Tahrawi, in Rabat, hosted a reception for members of the Moroccan health mission responsible for securing health coverage for the pilgrims to the Sacred House of Allah for the 1446H-2025M pilgrimage season, in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The mission consists of 82 personnel, including doctors, nurses, and administrators, divided between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection (44 members) and the health services of the Royal Armed Forces (38 members). Its objective is to provide comprehensive health care encompassing preventive, therapeutic, and educational aspects, with readiness to intervene when hospital admission is necessary in Saudi health institutions.
In his speech, the minister emphasized the importance of the mission members performing their duties with dedication and responsibility, reminding them that they represent Morocco in this noble task, and urging them to embody professional ethics and treat the pilgrims well throughout the rites. He stressed that the ministry has provided all necessary human resources and medical equipment to enable them to carry out their duties under optimal conditions.
Lamia Chakri, the head of the mission and regional director of health in the Souss-Massa region, explained that the tasks will include working within permanent health centers and mobile medical team transfers to monitor cases in Saudi hospitals. Sufficient quantities of medicines and supplies have also been provided, along with mobilizing specialized teams for psychological and moral support.
Chakri noted that the ministry has equipped the mission with seven permanent medical points, two mobile teams, and four referral teams, in addition to a team dedicated to health awareness, confirming that these arrangements are aimed at ensuring precise monitoring of the pilgrims’ health conditions and providing health services that meet their expectations.
The ministry also revealed the development of a digital application that allows real-time tracking of the pilgrims’ treatment paths, monitoring health conditions and automatically updating statistics. A health kit will be allocated to each pilgrim containing portable biomedical devices to monitor vital indicators and preventive supplies like masks and sanitizers.
This initiative aims to support Moroccan pilgrims and enable them to perform their rituals in health and safety, within a preventive and proactive approach addressing health challenges during the Hajj season.
