Organizers of the Paris Book Festival 2025, held from April 11 to 13 at the Grand Palais in the French capital, confirmed that the presence of more than 50 writers from Morocco “demonstrated the richness of the literary scene in the Kingdom,” which was the guest of honor at this prominent literary event.
The festival administration, which announced the results of the 2025 edition in a statement, stated that “the participation of over 50 Moroccan writers and 38 publishing houses, following the Kingdom’s invitation as guest of honor, underscored the richness of the Moroccan literary landscape.”
Among the notable moments that highlighted the Moroccan presence, the organizers pointed to the contributions of authors Reem Battal, Maryam Jabour, Kabir Mustafa Amini, Leila Slimani, and others.
As part of a special program titled “Messages from Morocco,” the festival brought together “distinguished figures and new writers” in the national pavilion, hosting no less than 46 events that spotlighted the “diversity of Moroccan literary production.”
The fourth edition of the festival, marked by an “exceptional” and “rich” program featuring around 1,200 writers and 450 publishing houses, attracted a total of 114,000 visitors, 43 percent of whom were under the age of 25, according to the organizers, who expressed their happiness with the great success of the festival, especially its international appeal.
The festival administration stated that “the international allure of the event was strengthened with the participation of 12 countries, a dimension that needs to be further consolidated in the coming years,” expressing joy at seeing this event gather prominent voices in contemporary literature and resonate over three days across 11 stages within the Grand Palais, through a program that blends various literary genres: from graphic novels, young adult literature, and romance, to detective stories and the humanities.
It is noted that this year’s Paris Book Festival “combined artistic disciplines such as cinema and live performances, as well as exhibitions and artistic presentations, celebrating all forms of literature.”
The next edition of the festival will be held from April 17 to 19, 2026, according to the statement.
It is worth mentioning that Morocco participated this year in the Paris Book Festival, held at the Grand Palais, as the guest of honor with a pavilion covering an area of 330 square meters. The pavilion presented a rich and diverse program that included 28 meetings in the conference space, 16 discussion sessions on literary and social topics, 10 book presentations, and two artistic performances (slam art and theater), alongside an international roundtable on “the Atlantic fate between France and Morocco,” in line with this year’s theme: “the sea.”
