King Mohammed VI inaugurates today the high-speed train project between Kenitra and Marrakech.

It is anticipated that King Mohammed VI will launch today, Thursday, from the Agdal station in Rabat, the high-speed train project that will connect Kenitra and Marrakech, as part of the expansion of the high-speed train network in the kingdom. This project is a direct extension of the previous line linking Tangier and Casablanca, representing a strategic step to enhance connectivity between northern and southern Morocco and to accelerate commuting between major cities.

The new line will cover a distance of nearly 450 kilometers, with an operational speed of 320 kilometers per hour and a design capacity allowing speeds up to 350 kilometers per hour, significantly reducing travel time between the involved regions and enabling a more efficient and rapid mode of transport.

The project will include major stations in Rabat, Temara, Skhirat, Benslimane, Nouaceur, reaching all the way to Marrakech, with the potential for network expansion later on by adding new stations and distribution centers, especially in areas with increasing population density or economic significance.

This project is part of a broader vision to modernize Moroccan infrastructure and achieve a qualitative transformation in the transport system, reflecting the official direction toward supporting balanced development and facilitating economic and social movement across different regions of the kingdom, at a time when Morocco is reinforcing its continental position as a key player in the field of high-speed rail transport.
