Italian Venice Doubles Daily Entrance Fee for Visitors

Visitors to the Italian city of Venice are now required to pay an entrance fee of up to 10 euros for a one-day visit, starting this Friday, which is double the amount charged when the plan was launched last year.

The fee applies to all days until the first weekend in May, and then for every weekend from Friday to Sunday until the end of July.

In total, the fee will be required on 54 days this year, nearly double the number of days from last year.

Visitors must obtain a QR code online before arrival and upload it to their mobile devices.

In 2024, Venice became the first city in the world to impose fees on short-term visitors, similar to those for museums, with penalties of up to 300 euros for those without a ticket.
