GITEX 2025: Startups in a Flourishing Ecosystem
The startup ecosystem in Morocco is witnessing remarkable growth, thanks to the synergy of initiatives and collaboration among various stakeholders in both the public and private sectors.
With the engagement of entrepreneurs, investors, business incubators, and mentors, Moroccan startups are looking forward to a bright future marked by immense growth potential and the ability to respond to local challenges.
In this context, the GITEX Africa Morocco exhibition, held from April 14 to 16 in Marrakech, provided a golden opportunity for promising startups to engage with investors from the private and public sectors as well as international investment projects.
Abdel Samad Lahmami, program director at AcceLab, a Moroccan company focused on accelerating the growth of startups in sports technology, remarked that GITEX represents an opportunity for these companies to gain more visibility, network, and develop their businesses.
In an interview with the Moroccan News Agency, Lahmami noted that AcceLab, the first Moroccan accelerator supporting innovative startups in sports and technology, in partnership with the Moroccan Games and Sports Authority, aims to provide “pure acceleration” by exclusively focusing on startups in the sports technology sector.
Among the success stories, Lahmami mentioned Wanaut, a startup offering sports and cultural activities that successfully raised two million dirhams through its ticket booking platform, in addition to My Steps, an app that rewards individuals for walking to combat inactivity.
Meanwhile, the operations manager at Open Startup International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting startups, confirmed that the third edition of the GITEX Africa Morocco exhibition represents a strategic opportunity for developing young innovative startups on the continent.
He stated that “this technological event has now become a key platform for developing the entrepreneurship ecosystem.”
In the same vein, Ghita Mazour, director and founder of DecisiveAI, stressed that artificial intelligence offers opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises and can bring about profound changes and improvements in organizational operations.
She added, in a statement to the Moroccan News Agency, that “artificial intelligence can particularly enhance productivity, assist in making better decisions, improve customer decision-making processes, increase sales, and reduce costs.”
It’s worth noting that Decisive AI, a collaborative platform helping Moroccan organizations leverage artificial intelligence to achieve their strategic objectives, also offers services to small and medium-sized enterprises, especially startups.
Mazour emphasized that “our mission is to enable all public and private organizations, regardless of their work sectors, whether large or small, to benefit from artificial intelligence to achieve their strategic goals.”
With the participation of 800 startups from around the world, the third edition of the GITEX Africa Morocco exhibition served as a preferred space for young innovative startups.
