From Jakarta to Canada… Gerando brings his bad luck, and Vancouver pays the price!

On April 26, 2025, the city of Vancouver was shaken by a tragic incident when a speeding car plowed into crowds at a street festival, resulting in nine deaths and multiple injuries.

Local police apprehended the driver immediately and confirmed that preliminary investigations indicated no terrorist motives behind the incident. The authorities have yet to reveal the cause of the event, leaving many questions unanswered.

The timing of the accident coincided with another controversial event, occurring just hours after Hicham Gerando arrived in Canada and made provocative statements disparaging Moroccan security forces while excessively praising the Canadian police.

Gerando, known in Morocco for his involvement in cyber extortion and leading a network of con artists, had fled abroad after several court sentences were issued against him. His new statements have brought renewed attention to him, especially following the bloody incident, which some view as a slap in the face to the blind trust placed in Canadian authorities.

The Canadian streets are in shock today, as questions rise over the accuracy of the assumptions made by some fleeing justice. Was Gerando seeking to cleanse his image by criticizing his homeland? Or is the coincidence of his statements with this tragedy merely a tragic accident?

What is certain is that Vancouver is today counting its losses amid a state of mourning, while the threads of an incident unfold, reigniting discussions about public safety and the responsibility of the media narrative carried by some wherever they go.
