The Moroccan U-17 national team secured its place in the final of the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations after defeating Ivory Coast in a penalty shootout (4-3) today, following a goalless draw (0-0) at the end of regular time in the tournament’s semi-final.
The match, held at the El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia, was characterized by a lack of goals in the first half as both teams struggled to find the net.
In the second half, the national team managed to open the scoring through Nassim El Masoudi in the 69th minute, but the referee disallowed it due to offside.
Both teams continued to seek opportunities to score, but the absence of efficient attacking play prevented them from breaking the deadlock, leading to a penalty shootout.
Luck smiled on the Moroccan team during the penalties, setting up a date in the African Championship final against Mali.
