Officially… Real Madrid announces the signing of Xabi Alonso

Real Madrid has announced this Sunday morning its contract with Spanish coach Xabi Alonso to take charge of the first team, succeeding Italian Carlo Ancelotti, who bid farewell to the club in the final match yesterday, Saturday.
The Spanish club stated in a press release that Alonso has signed a contract extending for three years, until the summer of 2028, and he will begin his duties on June 1st.
Alonso had previously managed Bayer Leverkusen for the last two seasons, winning the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal, in addition to reaching the UEFA Europa League final.
It’s worth noting that Alonso has also donned the Real Madrid shirt as a player, securing several titles with the club, most notably the UEFA Champions League in the 2013/2014 season.
