Wydad Athletic Club Celebrates its 88th Anniversary Amid Festive Atmosphere and Crucial Match

Fans of Wydad Athletic Club are celebrating today, Thursday, the 88th anniversary of the red club, which was founded on this day in 1937. Over the decades, the club has become a cornerstone of national football and a symbol of resistance and Moroccan identity.

Many supportive and following pages of the red team shared photos and videos documenting the most significant moments of glory in the club’s rich history, highlighting several legends who defended the Wydad jersey and contributed to its golden chapters.

The official page of the club posted a message on the occasion, stating: “From a noble idea, Wydad was born… and from the heart of the nation, the dream began. It has been 88 years since the founding of Wydad Athletic Club, when the free spirits gathered to defend the identity of a nation, giving birth to a club that became a symbol of resistance and a mirror of an unquenchable love.” It added: “The story began with a cause, continued with passion, and grew with the voice of fans in every stadium. Today, as we light our 88th candle, we recall the glory and renew our pledge of loyalty to this entity that has never been just a club… but a cause, a belonging, and a family that cannot be broken.”

The anniversary coincides with a match that Wydad will play this evening against Chabab Riadhi Salmi, starting at 8 PM (GMT+1), in the 29th round of the “Inwi” Professional League. This adds a special sporting dimension to the occasion, which could bring double joy to the red fans.
