Regional Health Stockpiles Strengthen Emergency Response Capabilities in the Kingdom

The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ameen Tahraoui, announced on Wednesday in Rabat that the regional health stockpiles and initial reserves to be established across the 12 regions of the Kingdom will serve as a fundamental pillar to enhance the rapid intervention capabilities of the national health system. This initiative is in line with the royal directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

In a statement to the press following His Majesty’s supervision of the launch of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region platform in the commune of Amir, the minister confirmed that these health facilities would be equipped with advanced medical equipment, mobile units, and advanced medical centers, enabling immediate intervention and prompt care for victims during disasters, based on the severity of their conditions, ensuring the continuity of health services in the early hours of such incidents.

The minister highlighted that these platforms will also include strategic stockpiles of medicines and necessary supplies for diagnosis and treatment phases, along with the development of a national system for producing the required equipment and facilities to initiate relief operations immediately when needed.

He explained that this vital infrastructure has been designed based on a thorough analysis of the needs of each region, taking into account potential risks, and adhering to the best international standards and practices in health crisis management and emergency response.

The ambitious program aims to secure needs equivalent to three times what was provided following the Al Haouz earthquake, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to building an effective proactive system that ensures the protection of citizens under various circumstances.
