In the town of Kelaat M’Gouna, the International Rose Festival is a symbol of agricultural development and modernization.
The 60th edition of the festival was inaugurated on Monday, May 5, 2025, under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. This year’s theme is “The Rose Industry: A Lever for Sustainable Development in the Context of the Green Generation Strategy.”
The event kicked off with a training session at the “House of Roses,” organized in collaboration with the regional office of the National Office for Agricultural Consulting in the Drâa-Tafilalet region. The session aimed to support and enhance the capacities of local cooperatives, young entrepreneurs, and those interested in the rose industry.
The training focused on key topics, including the valorization of local products, ensuring food safety, and modern marketing techniques, alongside a competitive workshop for participants to create project ideas, reflecting the practical and applied nature of the training provided.
Wednesday morning, May 7, saw the continuation of activities with a scientific conference held in the exhibition’s conference hall. The conference discussed the role of the rose industry as a driver for sustainable local development, featuring a select group of national and international researchers and experts who highlighted the importance of integrating this sector into the local and national economy.
The event attracted a significant presence of cooperative representatives, agricultural stakeholders, and local and national media, reflecting the growing interest in this sector as an economic, social, and cultural lever in the region.
These meetings provided an opportunity for exchanging scientific experiences and formulating practical recommendations to enhance the competitiveness of the rose sector, aligning with the overarching goals of the National Green Generation Strategy for sustainable local development.
