Berkane Renaissance Aims to Sign Jawad El Yamq to Strengthen Defense Ahead of African Debut

The Berkane Renaissance Club, champions of the “Inwi” Professional League for the 2024-2025 season, is preparing to make a strong entrance into the summer transfer market. The club is looking to sign Moroccan international defender Jawad El Yamq in anticipation of its first participation in the African Champions League.

Sources have revealed that the club’s management has identified El Yamq, who plays for Al Wehda in Saudi Arabia, as a priority to bolster the defense, leveraging his extensive experience in international arenas and across several strong leagues. At 33 years old, the player appears open to the idea of returning to the national league, especially given the competitive project being proposed by the Berkane team.

Although El Yamq’s contract with his Saudi club runs until June 30, sources close to him have confirmed his willingness to embark on this new adventure in Morocco as he approaches the end of his athletic career, with a team aiming for a strong continental presence.

This season, the Moroccan defender has participated in 22 matches for Al Wehda, scoring one goal. He also attended the national team’s recent training camp and featured in friendly matches against Niger and Tanzania.

Berkane Renaissance is banking on strengthening its squad with experienced international players to ensure a commendable showing in the Champions League and to enhance its chances of maintaining the league title for a second consecutive season.
