Iran condemned the “threats” from France regarding the potential re-imposition of sanctions that had been lifted from Tehran under the nuclear agreement reached in 2015, as reported by a local media outlet citing a message from the Iranian mission to the United Nations.
The text of the message published by the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA) stated: “Resorting to threats and economic blackmail is completely unacceptable and constitutes a blatant violation of the principles of the United Nations Charter.”
France had warned on Monday that it would not hesitate “even for a second,” alongside Germany and the United Kingdom, to reimpose sanctions on Tehran if European security were threatened by Iran’s nuclear program.
