Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus has decided to exclude Moroccan international goalkeeper Yassine Bounou from the squad for the match against Al-Khaleej, taking place on Thursday, as part of the 28th round of the Roshen Saudi League.
According to reports from the Saudi newspaper “Al-Riyadiyah,” the exclusion came for purely technical reasons, as Jesus opted to rely on Saudi goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais for this much-anticipated match, without providing additional details about Bounou’s future with the team.
Bounou has been one of the standout players for Al-Hilal this season, participating in 36 matches across various competitions, conceding 40 goals, and managing to keep a clean sheet in 11 instances, earning the trust of fans since joining the team from Sevilla.
Currently, Al-Hilal sits in second place in the Saudi league standings with 58 points, trailing the leaders Al-Ittihad, who have 65 points, while Al-Khaleej is in tenth place with 33 points.
The match between Al-Hilal and Al-Khaleej is expected to take place this Thursday evening at the “Kingdom Arena” at 16:50 GMT+1, with great anticipation from the blue team’s fans to continue applying pressure in the title race.
