The National Museum Foundation held a meeting today, Monday, in Rabat, with a Japanese delegation, resulting in the establishment of a new and promising partnership between Morocco and Japan in the fields of museums and heritage preservation.
This partnership is particularly significant as it marks the first of its kind that Japan has signed with an African country in the museum sector, reflecting a deep commitment to expanding international cultural cooperation.
The agreement will cover several areas, including organizing joint exhibitions between the two countries to highlight the richness of Moroccan and Japanese heritage, as well as launching training programs, especially in the textile field, along with exploring new horizons for cultural collaboration, similar to existing partnerships with renowned global institutions.
During the meeting, an overview was presented of the developments in the museum sector in Morocco, thanks to the vision laid out by King Mohammed VI, emphasizing the importance of enhancing openness to specialized international institutions.
Members of the Japanese delegation, which included Japan’s Ambassador to Morocco, Nakata Masahiro, and officials from the Tokyo National Museum, praised the richness and diversity of Moroccan heritage and the efforts made to preserve and promote it nationally and internationally.
This step reflects the desire of both countries to enhance their cultural relations and establish joint cooperation in the field of heritage protection, appreciation, and transmission to future generations, contributing to the strengthening of civilizational dialogue between cultures.
