After the announcement by the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football declaring the Moroccan national team as champions of the Africa Cup of Nations, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Dakar issued a statement addressed to Moroccan citizens residing in Senegal, urging them to remain calm and responsible.

The embassy reminded in the statement, which was sent to “Express TV,” that sports remain a means of fostering understanding and connection among peoples, and that the outcome of a match should not justify any excesses or harsh statements, particularly among nations with historical ties and shared values.

The statement emphasized the importance of respecting local laws in Senegal and maintaining courteous and responsible behavior in all interactions, whether in-person or on digital platforms. The embassy also praised the “special care” that Senegalese authorities have shown to its citizens and their properties since the end of the match, affirming that this reflects the values of hospitality and brotherhood between the two peoples.

Moreover, the embassy highlighted the importance of each citizen’s contribution to calming the situation and preserving the longstanding and multifaceted relations between Morocco and Senegal, reaffirming its confidence in the maturity of the Moroccan community and its ability to embody the values of respect, dignity, and coexistence.
