Decline in Fish Landings at Al Hoceima Port by 32% by the End of February 2026

Coastal and traditional fish landings at Al Hoceima Port reached a total of 550 tons by the end of February, marking a 32% decrease compared to the same period last year.

According to a report by the National Office of Marine Fisheries, in its latest statistics on coastal and traditional fishing in Morocco, the commercial value of these landings dropped by 35%, amounting to approximately 31.92 million dirhams, down from over 49.26 million dirhams at the end of February 2025.

By species, the quantity of pelagic fish landed at this port decreased by 39%, totaling 34 tons, with an estimated value exceeding 1.11 million dirhams (a decline of 59%), compared to 2.72 million dirhams for 55 tons in February 2025.

In contrast, landings of white fish slightly increased by 5% to reach 45 tons, valued at over 1.82 million dirhams, compared to approximately 1.7 million dirhams for 43 tons year-on-year.

Regarding mollusks, landings decreased by 35% to 460 tons, generating revenues of about 28.16 million dirhams (a decline of 36%), while crustacean landings saw a significant increase of 69%, reaching 12 tons, with revenues of 820,000 dirhams (an increase of 69%).

At the national level, the volume of marketed coastal and traditional fish products amounted to 55,153 tons by the end of February 2026, reflecting an 18% decrease compared to the same period last year. However, in terms of value, it rose by 3% to exceed 2.36 billion dirhams.
