Royal Air Maroc Strengthens Its International Presence by Connecting Brazil to the Arab World

Royal Air Maroc has highlighted the expansion of its international flight network and strengthened ties between Brazil and the Arab world during a seminar on tourism and business held in São Paulo, featuring representatives from the public and private sectors, banks, and the United Nations. The event saw the signing of a memorandum of understanding aimed at attracting Arab investments in the Brazilian tourism sector, which is projected to reach a market size of $384 billion by 2028, focusing on infrastructure development, hotels, and the creation of new tourist centers.

This initiative follows Royal Air Maroc’s resumption of the São Paulo-Casablanca route in December 2024, with four weekly flights using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, reflecting its strategic role as a link between Brazil and the Arab world. Othman Baba, the company’s regional director for Latin America, stated that the airline plans to increase the number of seats from 85,000 in 2025 to around 130,000 in 2026, marking a 30% increase to meet the growing demand from Arab travelers seeking experiences that combine culture, nature, and high-end hospitality.

Brazilian Minister of Tourism Gustavo Feliciano emphasized the importance of strengthening relations with Arab countries as a key driver for the internationalization of Brazilian tourism, noting that the memorandum of understanding lays the groundwork for sustainable relationships in tourism and business. William Adib Deb Junior, the CEO of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, highlighted that the agreement represents a tangible shift in historical relations towards investment opportunities and real partnerships.

Through Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport, Royal Air Maroc continues to expand its global network to reach 100 destinations in 46 countries across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas as part of a strategic plan extending until 2037. This plan includes increasing the number of aircraft to 200 and aiming to transport 32 million passengers annually, with a commitment to sustainability, having conducted its first flight using sustainable aviation fuel in 2025.
