Morocco solidifies its position as one of the safest countries in the world with a “zero terrorism” classification internationally.

Morocco has ranked among the safest countries globally, according to the 2026 Global Terrorism Index report released by the Institute for Economics and Peace. The country recorded a zero score in the impact of terrorist attacks, placing it at 100th out of 163 nations.

This classification positions Morocco among countries with negligible terrorism risks, alongside developed nations such as Singapore, Taiwan, and Estonia, reflecting a high level of security stability.

In the African context, Morocco stands out as one of the safest nations, contrasting with ongoing threats in various regions of the continent, particularly in the Sahel, which continues to record the highest global rates of terrorist activity. Morocco also clearly outperforms several North African countries, which still face varying security challenges.

The report, which covers nearly 99.7% of the world’s population, indicates a general decline in terrorism indicators over the past year, with a 28% reduction in the number of fatalities and a 22% decrease in attacks. However, the phenomenon remains concentrated in specific geographical hotspots, particularly in countries like Pakistan, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, and Mali.

This positioning underscores Morocco’s ongoing success in maintaining a stable and secure environment, within a regional and international context marked by significant disparities in threat levels, thus enhancing its image as a safe destination both in Africa and globally.
