Fes Hosts “Nostalgia”: An Artistic Presentation Reviving Morocco’s History in an Immersive Style

The artistic presentation “Nostalgia: Land of Scholars” commenced on Wednesday evening at the Bab Makina space, offering the audience an immersive experience that takes them on a journey through key milestones in Morocco’s history.

This event was held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI and attended by Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mohammed Mehdi Bennsaid, alongside the Wali of the Fes-Meknes region and Governor of Fes, Khalid Ait Taleb, as well as several stakeholders in the cultural and artistic fields.

The presentation offered a renewed interpretation of national heritage through artistic performances that blended theater, music, and immersive direction, transporting the audience through significant eras of the kingdom’s history, including the reign of Moulay Idriss II, which highlighted the establishment of the second bank of Fes, as well as the era of Moulay Hassan I, the founder of the modern Moroccan army.

More than 300 artists and technicians participated in these performances, successfully reviving chapters of national memory within a historically rich space, giving the presentation a strong visual and expressive dimension.

In a statement to the Moroccan News Agency, Bennsaid confirmed that this program, initiated in 2016, aims to valorize historical sites and introduce the kingdom’s history through innovative approaches that allow the audience to rediscover national heritage.

He added that hosting this event in Fes, regarded as the capital of knowledge and history, constitutes an opportunity to promote cultural industries, emphasizing that this initiative offers a modern and exciting format for engaging with history.

The minister also revealed plans for similar performances in other cities, including Meknes, Rabat, and Agadir, as part of a dynamic initiative aimed at bringing culture closer to citizens.

For his part, the director of the work, Amin Nasour, clarified that this second edition in Fes highlights pivotal moments in Moroccan history, asserting that the presentation offers an epic narrative aimed at various demographics, particularly youth and visitors.

Nasour concluded that “Nostalgia” seeks to revive the historical memory of the kingdom across its various eras and figures, reflecting the depth and richness of Moroccan heritage.
